This policy explains when Sightline refunds a Subscription charge. It is part of, and does not replace, the Terms of Service, Sections 6 and 19 of which govern billing and refunds. This is a refund policy, not a warranty of the Software’s performance; the warranty terms are in the Terms of Service.

1. 30-day refund on annual plans

If you ask within 30 days after any annual Subscription charge, we will refund that charge in full, for any reason. This includes renewals. The 30-day deadline applies to your request, not to when we process it. If you have already received a refund under this section, we may decline another.

A refund under this section ends the Subscription when we issue it. Paid features stop, and your saved observations stay exportable as described in the Cancellation Policy. The separate updated-terms refunds below follow their own rules.

2. Monthly plans

Monthly plans can be cancelled anytime; see the Cancellation Policy for how. Ordinary monthly refunds are at our discretion. This does not limit refunds for rejecting updated terms below or refunds required by law.

3. How to request a refund

Email [email protected] with the email address or account associated with your purchase and the date of the charge you want refunded. We do not require a phone call or any particular form.

For an updated-terms refund, also tell us that you reject the update, when the full updated terms were first shown to you in the app for your acceptance (not as an advance notice), and when you stopped ordinary use. Do not send student records, observation exports, or database backups.

4. Cancellation is separate

Cancelling is not the same as requesting a refund. Cancelling stops future renewal charges; it does not by itself refund a past charge, so ask for the annual refund by email as described above. An annual refund ends the Subscription, so you do not also need to cancel. See the Cancellation Policy for how to cancel. A rejection request under Section 19 of the Terms of Service is different: it also asks us to stop renewal, so you do not need to make a separate cancellation request. Exercising a statutory right to withdraw ends the purchase contract as provided by applicable law.

5. Refunds when you reject updated terms

Section 19 of the Terms of Service provides a separate exit for monthly and annual subscribers who reject an update. Before accepting the update, email [email protected] within 30 days after the acceptance presentation date defined in Section 19: when the full updated terms are first shown to you in the app for your acceptance. Receiving or opening an advance notice, or following its link to read the proposed terms, does not start that window.

  • We will stop renewal and confirm the outcome. If continued paid access under your previously accepted terms is available, we may offer it through the current paid period. You may instead choose termination and a refund for the unused prepaid period.
  • The unused-period refund runs from the date you stop ordinary use because of the update, no earlier than the acceptance presentation date, to the paid-through date. It is calculated by calendar days, counting the starting day in your favor; processing time does not reduce it.

The unused-period calculation applies to initial and renewed paid periods alike. Rejection does not itself entitle you to a refund for time already used. We may offer an additional goodwill refund at our discretion; this does not limit the separate 30-day annual refund above or a refund required by law.

Paid access ends when we process the termination. Stop ordinary use after choosing termination; using the offered data export or backup path does not count as accepting the update or disqualify the refund. Termination does not delete your local content or restore paid features.

We will issue these refunds within 14 days after receiving your request, using the original payment method unless you agree otherwise, without a refund fee. Payment-provider posting times may vary. These refunds do not reduce or replace the 30-day annual refund and are not discretionary monthly refunds. Section 19 controls if there is any inconsistency in this summary.

6. Statutory rights

Our voluntary refund policy does not limit any cancellation, refund, or other consumer right that cannot be excluded by agreement. The 30-day window does not apply to a refund required by law.

If you buy as a consumer in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you may have a statutory right to withdraw, normally within 14 days of entering the purchase contract. We do not treat accepting the terms, starting a trial, or using the Software as a waiver of that right.

To exercise a right to withdraw, send a clear statement identifying your purchase to [email protected], or by post to Ethoseen LLC, 1538 E 25th Avenue, Eugene, OR 97403, United States, before the applicable withdrawal deadline. You may use the form below, but it is optional; a clear statement in your own words is sufficient.

When a statutory withdrawal requires a refund, we will reimburse the payments required by law without undue delay and within 14 days after receiving your notice. We will use the original payment method unless you expressly agree otherwise, and will not charge a refund fee.

7. Optional model withdrawal form

Complete and send this only if you wish to withdraw from your purchase.
